Network Administration
The administration of a network can be broken into two major groups: LAN and WAN. A LAN is a local area network. Administrating a LAN consists of setting up users on the network's domain or workgroup, setting those users' permissions, setting up network printing, installing new PCs on the network, and much more. Because there is so much involved in LAN networking, most people specialize in a particular networking operating system. We are certified and specialize in Windows NT and Novell.
A WAN is a wide area network. The administration of a WAN mainly consists of setting up PCs on the internet. Another aspect of WAN administration is setting up firewalls. A firewall is your protection from dangers outside your LAN, such as hackers. A good firewall can allow only specific users to access files remotely, which in the case of businesses, lets employees work from home if need be.
